One cup ends the monthly struggle

“It helped me to not worry if I had pads or tampons because I know I have my cup and there’s no shortage of something that’s reusable!” - Charlie, 32, Transitional Living Facility

The Flow’s programs reduced period poverty among our participants by over 50%.

Before receiving a menstrual cup, 87% of our participants experienced a shortage of period products. After receiving a cup, 57% of participants report never experiencing a shortage of period products when they need them.

Healthier periods, healthier lives

Less waste, greater impact

1 Menstrual Cup = 3500 single use products

13.5M single-use products averted from landfills from 2024 distributions alone

In ten years, the average menstruator uses 3,500 disposable period products. Based on the uptake rates of our participants, receiving a menstrual cup reduces this number to an average of about 920 products – a 74% reduction in disposable products used.

In 2024 alone, The Flow’s programming kept over 176 tons of waste out of landfills and the environment – about 13,500,000 disposable period products.

A scalable model

Our program – the first of its kind in the United States – is setting the standard for a sustainable, scalable model. It’s low-cost, high-impact, and ready to be replicated in communities across the country.

Menstrual cups are a viable and acceptable solution to period poverty for our participants.

After our educational events, 87% are willing to try a cup, and 75.5% report regularly using their cup.

Education sparks a ripple effect

While very few people have heard of or tried a cup prior to our programming, our educational work creates enthusiasm and interest in cups for the people we serve and their communities.

96% of participants have talked about menstrual cups with a friend or family member, and 48% take a cup for someone else during our educational events.

Organizations
are eager to partner

We regularly received feedback from partners asking to extend or expand our programming with their communities, and are receiving more new requests for collaboration from bigger organizations than ever before.

Everyone deserves access to safe, reliable period care

We bring menstrual cup education and access to the communities most affected by period poverty.

Our programs primarily serve youth, young adults, and Latine and Black women and girls, who face the highest barriers to safe, sustainable period care. By centering these communities, we ensure menstrual cups reach those who stand to benefit most.
